When Peonies Grow

When peonies grow, the garden breathes anew,

Eternal love awakens in their hue.

Their petals soft, like secrets gently shared,

In every bloom, a promise long declared.

As sunlight spills and whispers through the leaves,

Our hearts entwine, a love that never grieves.

With every season, colors bold and bright

In this embrace, we find our light.

So let us tend this haven, hand in hand

For in this bond, we trace our everlasting land.

As long as flowers flourish

Long Live the Iambic Pentameter!

Dear students,

Last week I presented you with this semester's SECOND CHALLENGE. As I explained in class, it consists in writing a rhyming couplet using iambic pentameters. As an inspiration, I reminded you of Shakesperare's last two lines in his "Sonnet 18":

So long as men can breethe or eyes can see

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

I also wrote a rhyming couplet myself, though it is not half as good as Shakesperare's... But here it is nonetheless:

The day you went away and left my side,

I nearly died... But chose to take a ride!
